Tri-Training Reviews

Rod, since you asked me once why I first contacted you I checked the web today out of curiousity to see what was offered by online coaches and their prices.

Well, if everybody did as I did today and compared your service to the others available you would be coaching the whole world. Tri-training is definately more accurate (only three out of twenty services I checked use individual testing), most of them include a clause that limits email access to the coaches, and Tri-training is half the price of the next cheapest service.

Keep up the good work.

Francois Modave.

Rod

I came across this message in a triathlon newsgroup,

Mark.

Curious what people thought about coaching via Internet. Thinking of the idea, but not sure if it is really worth it. Anyone have experience (good or bad) with it?

Nothing but good.
Rod Cedaro in Australia took me from first season rookie to 11:29 Ironman in ten months. You need to be committed and he does a 24 hour, or less, reply to email, maybe less to the US, depending on how the time zones work out.
Great service.

I also subscribe to Rod's service and am happy with it. Doesn't help much with technique, but I like not having to worry about what I am going to do every day. Given how cheap his service is I am pleased (and surprised) that the service is pretty personalised - he plans volumes and intensities around the race schedule that I give him, he has high expectations of time available for a non-pro but I just trim things back to the time I have available. My Ironman Australia time of 10:48 this year was 45 minutes faster than last year's race.

From Victoria Cullip
Elite Female Triathlete, UK

I have been coached by Rod Cedaro since April 1998 via email. We have met only once at the World Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland, yet have built up an excellent relationship whereby I feel totally at ease describing both the highs and the lows of my training, racing and day to day life affecting both of these.

I was at a fairly good standard before I worked with Rod, but I was neither consistent nor particularly structured in my approach to training - mainly because I wasn't sure what training I should and shouldn't be doing.

I found the first few months of Rod's training programme pretty tough - I was training a lot more than I was used to, and it was difficult to get used to training 'hard' for the key sessions, and training 'steady/easy' for the longer sessions. I had to commit to the heart rate targets set, otherwise I just couldn't have coped with all the sessions.

I was still establishing a good base through last season, but still received some pretty good results in the UK. However, it has been this year that I have reaped the most results from working with Rod. I have raced in the elite category for the first time this year, and have had a year of consistent, good quality performances beating rivals and pbs throughout the season. It's hard to quantify minutes off splits and so on as each part of my race has improved. I also find that I recover much more quickly due to the aerobic base I have built up with Rod.

Following Rod's programmes takes commitment and they're by no means an easy, quick fix option - however, with your own will this is undoubtedly the way to improve your triathlon performances.
